Unfortunately, AMC confirmed to 11Alive News in Georgia that a production member was injured on set on Friday, September 6 and had to be airlifted to an Atlanta hospital. It wasn't clear who was hurt or what happened, but the spokesperson did tell the news station that the injuries were not life-threatening and the person was released from the hospital on Monday.
The accident forced TWD to temporarily stop filming in the Senoia, Ga. area, but the AMC rep said production has since resumed and the delay shouldn't impact the upcoming season — which starts on October 13.
As long as the person in question is OK, it doesn't really matter how much the show might be impacted. Let's just try to keep all the blood and mayhem on-screen!
UPDATE: New details from the Associated Press — a 20-year-old actor named Garrett Zane Orr was playing a zombie on the show when he was hit by a military vehicle whose brakes malfunctioned. The 2.5-ton truck reportedly rolled over his stomach. (Ouch.) But as it's noted above, his injuries weren't considered life-threatening and he was released from the hospital three days later. Heal fast, man!
