Bachelor 2014: Who Is Eliminated Contestant Kat Hurd?
UPDATE (2/10/2014): We feel for Kat Hurd. After getting the lamest 1-on-1 date of the season (running? Not our idea of fun or romance), Kat nabbed the longest flight home. Juan Pablo eliminated her during Season 18 Episode 6. Blindsided, Kat thought she and Juan Pabs had a great connection and felt confident going into the rose ceremony after opening up to the Bachelor about her fear of disappointment (stemming from her relationship with her alcoholic father).
"I saw myself at the end, you know?" she said after the rose ceremony. "My whole life I've been told how great I am and what a catch and, yet? Here I sit," she gestured at the limousine. Oh, Kat! We think you ARE great. Here's hoping you find the right one soon.
ORIGINAL STORY (1/13/2014): Anyone who’s taken a peek at Juan Pablo Galavis’s Instagram and Twitter feeds knows that the hot Bachelor 2014 is all about shaking what his mama gave him. And lucky for him, so is Season 18 contestant Kat Hurd!
The 29-year-old Scottsdale, Arizona resident loves dance so much, she married it majored in it! This super-sporty girl attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 2007 with two degrees: A BS in Athletic Training and a BA in Dance. But she wasn’t done there. She also went on to get her Masters in Exercise Science in 2010.
These days, her job doesn't have a lot to do with dance, and that's because she's looking for love in all the rose places. In the daytime, she works as a medical device salesperson for Boston Scientific, but she could have been dancing — and getting paid to do it! This past spring, Kat tried out for the Phoenix Suns NBA dance team, and made it! On August 29, she tweeted “What a difference 24hrs can make!! So excited to be a part of the 2013-2014 @SunsDancers and a member of the #sunsfamily!! #dreambig #dance.”
But while Kat was a member of the Suns team for a minute, she won't be getting close to the sorts of famous folks she could've — basketball players on the court, and celebs catching the game in the stands. Juan Pablo frequently tweets pictures of himself with baseball and soccer players, so together they would've been like the Varsity booster club!
Unfortunately, Kat couldn't balance The Bachelor, which started filming in September and her new gig, with the Suns’ season kicking off on October 7. Oh well, she has so much energy and personality, we’re sure she’ll figure something out if she wants to dance in the future. Like, next season, maybe? We could see it, especially because she has so much energy on the show, we want to see her shake it on TV all year long. You know, if we watched basketball.
