Bethenny Frankel Opens Up About Her Messy Divorce: “You Can Have It All, But Not All at Once”

On the surface, Bethenny Frankel seems to have it all. The mother of one made a name for herself on The Real Housewives of New York before leaving the show for her spin-off Bethenny Ever After and creating her empire of Skinnygirl cocktails.

But though she’s the queen of snark, Bethenny’s had a tough year. She’s in the middle of a public and painful divorce with her husband of two years, Jason Hoppy, proving that “ever after” isn’t always the way it goes.

As the reality mogul prepares to make her foray into the world of daytime talk shows (pray she does better than Kris Jenner), she’s opening up about her tough personal life in this week’s issue of People Magazine.

Bethenny and Jason split more than nine months ago, but their divorce battle rages on as the couple argues over custody of their daughter Bryn, Bethenny’s Skinnygirl fortune, and their Tribeca loft.

Her many struggles have changed Bethenny’s perspective on love and Mr. Right.

“Part of my identity was always looking for a man,” she told People. “I always wanted to meet someone. I’m not entirely sure I believe in the fairy tale anymore. It’s ironic. By the time you’re reading fairy tales to your kids, you’re discovering they might not come true.”

But Bethenny isn’t entirely jaded about her romantic future. She’s simply switched to a more practical approach.

“You never think you’re going to be in these situations, and then suddenly you are,” she said. “I finally realized that you can have it all…but not all at once. I had talked about that regarding food, but I didn’t realize it also translates to life.”

And Bethenny’s main focus on love has everything to do with little Bryn.

“Connecting with my daugher is my definition of love,” she concluded.
