Miley Cyrus: Is “Wrecking Ball” About Liam Hemsworth?
Miley Cyrus is trying exceptionally hard to prove she’s all grown up with a steady diet of twerking, molesting Robin Thicke with sports memorabilia, and getting naked, but, much to her dismay, it hasn’t totally convinced everyone that Hannah Montana is gone for good.
PEOPLE reports that Miley opened up about the Terry Richardson-directed video for her latest single, “Wrecking Ball” on Z100 on Wednesday, telling DJ Elvis Duran that the video is more about her emotions than a showcase of the hard work she’s been putting in at the gym.
"I think the video is much more," said Miley of the nudity-filled video. "You can tell I look more broken than even the song sounds."
While Miley hasn’t provided fans any information about who the song was written for, many have posited that the highly emotional track is about her tumultuous relationship with fiance Liam Hemsworth, which has been plagued by reports of infidelity and breakup rumors. Although Miley may never give fans a clear-cut answer, she revealed that the process of recording the video tapped into some emotional pain.
"If you look at my eyes, I look more sad than actually my voice sounds on the record," Miley disclosed. "It was a lot harder to do the video than it was to record the song. It was much more of an emotional experience."
