Cory Monteith Wanted to Be Known as More Than “Just Finn,” Co-star Says
We loved Cory Monteith’s portrayal of Finn Hudson on Glee, since he gave such dimension to what could have been a less dynamic everyman-type character. But apparently, Cory was hoping to be known for more than just the one role.
Before his death, Cory filmed key roles in two movies, including the ensemble drama All the Wrong Reasons. Karine Vanasse, who plays his wife in that film, says she was impressed by the choices Cory was making in his career.
"He was this big TV star who chose to do this small Canadian film and not everybody does that," Karine tells E! News. "For him, he wanted to show his team, himself and his fans that he had all this other potential to develop and he wanted his career to maybe head in that direction."
And it appears that he was choosier edgier roles to shake any stigma of being a heartthrob on a teen drama. "He didn't want to be just Finn,” she explains.
That said, Karine points out that he loved his Gleeks. She says that lots of Glee fans would show up to the film set in Canada, "hoping that maybe they could see Cory," and "Cory would always make himself available to them." What a guy!
We’re looking forward to seeing Cory’s final two films, All the Wrong Reasons and McCanick, especially since critics have praised his performances in them. We just wish Cory could be here to enjoy the acclaim and to continue to take on additional roles.
