Emmys 2013: Michael Douglas Thanks Estranged Wife Catherine Zeta-Jones
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones may be “taking a break” from their 13-year marriage, but they’re certainly not taking a break from gratitude. As Michael took the stage to accept his Emmy for his portrayal of Liberace in Behind the Candelabra, he thanked his wife along with their children for her support.
Though Catherine did make it into Michael’s acceptance speech, she was not on his arm on the red carpet, nor was she seated in the audience. Her absence was expected, however, given the two announced their separation only last month.
Michael’s long list of thankees included his co-star Matt Damon, who was nominated alongside him for Lead Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries. Matt played Liberace’s chauffeur and lover Scott Thorson. After telling the audience that he was only as good as his co-star, Michael announced that he’d like to split his award with Matt. “Would you like the bottom or the top?” Michael joked to huge laughs.
But back to that mention of Catherine! Do you think it’s a sign their break might end in a reconciliation?
