“I was extremely nervous,” Corbin told OKMagazine.com. “Last week with the contemporary [dance] I knew it wasn’t going to be as structured so I’d be able to follow the storyline. With the jive, that was going to be the first time I would have to focus on my hands and all of that. I remember the first few days I was getting discouraged because our song wasn’t the traditional jive song so I was having a hard time finding that jive beat, especially when I’d never done it before.”
Despite Corbin’s nerves, the pair managed to wow the judges with their non-traditional jive to One Direction’s “Kiss You.” Corbin and Karina scored two 9s and an 8, giving them a total of 26 points for the night.
So what finally helped Corbin loosen up? The star says that the duo’s decision to pay homage to his High School Musical days by donning East High Wildcats uniforms was the most thrilling part of the night.
“We were able to find the storyline and, for me, that was the most fun part,” he said. “To be able to give a shout out to my fans and where I came from and have a little homage to my youth.”
