On Scandal, relationships are always rocky, but things seemed to be on the upswing for Cyrus Beene and James Novak toward the end of Season 2. However, that all changes in the Season 3 premiere — then immediately changes again.
In a new sneak peek, Cyrus follows James around the White House, clearly wanting something from him. When James asks what he wants, he quickly says, “Shame to get scooped by a Society Page blogger. She’s so beneath you! How does someone that low-level get access to White House sources? Is she making it up just to get ahead or sleeping with someone?”
“No. We’re not playing this game,” James responds, but Cyrus isn’t stopping there. “I’m playing and if you play, too, you get a prize. A scoop. A good one,” he insists. After a beat, James gives him his answer, and in turn, a lead to whom Cyrus thinks leaked Olivia and Fitz’s affair to the press.
Once James tells his hubby where to go — hint: the Secret Service and drinking is involved — Cyrus is so excited that he gives him a heated kiss in the middle of the hallway and rushes off. Before he can leave, James makes sure to remind him of one thing: “You owe me!”
We’re sure that will come into play very soon. Do you think Cyrus will get to the bottom of the story, or will the Gladiators solve Olivia and Fitz’s problems?
Sound off below, and catch the Scandal Season 3 premiere on Thursday, October 3 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
