Grey’s Anatomy 200th Episode Spoilers: Doctors Pitted Against Each Other in Competition
Grey’s Anatomy’s tenth season has kicked off in a big way, and it’s about to get even bigger. Next week’s episode isn’t just any edition of our favorite over-the-top medical drama — it’s the 200th episode, and creator Shonda Rhimes has promised she’s pulled out all the stops to make it totally unforgettable.
And to celebrate the milestone, this week’s TV Guide cover features two of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital’s hottest surgeons: Meredith and Derek! And their cover pic is seriously gorgeous. Why don’t our doctors look like that?
And as for the episode itself? The hospital is hosting the fundraising gala that was introduced to us in this week’s episode (Season 10, Episode 3: “Everybody’s Crying Mercy”) as Owen and Jackson’s brilliant answer to the hole left behind by the superstorm that rocked the Season 9 finale. And according to what Shonda told TV Guide, it isn’t going to be quite as glamorous as they’d hope. “It turns out to be a hot mess,” she said. So much so that Meredith breaks her “no work” pact to jump in the OR when — you guessed it — someone is hurt at the gala.
This may happen during the competition. Yes, you read that right — not only is the gala a circus, but the doctors are competing against each other for a cut of the money to go straight to their department of the hospital. And we know how well the Grey’s gang deals with competition. Hint: not well. Most surprising? It sounds like Callie will exaggerate her situation with Arizona to win the sympathy of some of the donors, with what Shonda calls “a pretty horrible lie about their relationship.” Uh-oh.
And if you’re worried about Richard like we are, we have great news for you: his struggle might be over soon as he finally finds his “will to live.” However, things will flip for Alex — who ended the most recent episode finally in bed with girlfriend Jo — as his estranged junkie father (Dexter’s James Remar) begins his arc. It wouldn’t be Grey’s if the hospital wasn’t filled with drama!
What are you looking forward to seeing most in the 200th episode of Grey’s Anatomy? Sound off below, and catch the episode on Thursday, October 10 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
