Jennifer Aniston Would “Honestly Go Back” For a Friends Reunion
Friends fans, rejoice: should pigs fly and a reunion ever (seriously) come to life, Jennifer Aniston’s on board.
“If we could, I would,” she said Monday at an event honoring famed TV director James Burrows at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. “I don’t think people would want to see us today.”
Considering the fact that, at any given time, Friends is in syndication on some channel somewhere, we’ve got a feeling Jen’s wrong about that one. And, she revealed, she almost missed out on the role on the iconic sitcom that made her a household name.
Filming a different TV show at the time that Friends got picked up, Jennifer was unsure if she’d even get to hang around long enough to play Rachel. “When we were shooting the first grouping of cast photos [of Friends] in front of that fountain, I was asked to step out of a bunch because they didn't know if I was going to be still playing Rachel," she said. “
Fortunately, she did — and we couldn’t imagine anyone else in her place. And filming in front of a live studio audience is part of the Friends experience that Jen definitely misses.
“Not knowing when that was going to happen and just sort of allowing that night to sort of be totally spontaneous -- of course knowing that we knew what we were supposed to do -- but there would always be surprising fun moments,” she said. “It's an energy that film or single-camera now that is so popular is just not the same.”
