After the death of his wife, Lori Grimes, Rick started having hallucinations, both visual and auditory, of the mother of his children. While everyone reacts to grief differently, hallucinations during the mourning process are not unheard of.
Superhero studies website Under the Maskdove into these scenes, reflecting on what Rick's portrayer Andrew Lincoln, who looked into hallucinations during bereavement before filming, had to say about the hallucinations: “When people lose someone they love, the brain…it plays tricks with them, placing that person they lost in the spaces where they used to be.”
Grief hallucinations are a normal reaction to bereavement but are rarely discussed, because people fear they might be considered insane or mentally destabilised by their loss. As a society we tend to associate hallucinations with things like drugs and mental illness, but we now know that hallucinations are common in sober healthy people and that they are more likely during times of stress.
Since there's no empirical evidence, unfortunately, to suggest that Daryl has gotten busy at some point in his life, the jury is still out on whether or not this fan-favorite character is a virgin.
This question probably came from an interview Norman did with Zap2it a couple of years ago, in which he discussed how he approaches playing the beloved on-screen persona. "I'm trying to play him like he's a total virgin," Norman said at the time. "Like if someone were to try to kiss him he'd be like, 'Eeeeee.'"
Shy, awkward, inexperienced? Looks like it. A virgin? Maybe! We're really hoping to get some more romantic backstory out of Daryl in Season 4.
What Is Norman Reedus's Cat's Name?
Norman Reedus has an adorable black cat named Eye in the Dark. With a name like that, the kitty has to have a nickname, too! We're taking suggestions.
