Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington to Star in New Fantastic Four Movie?
Just in case Kit Harington’s role as the bastard hero Jon Snow on HBO’s Game of Thrones wasn’t enough to endear him to the nerd community, The Independentis reporting that the beloved actor is currently in contention to star as Reed Richards, AKA Mr. Fantastic, in the upcoming reboot of the Marvel superhero franchise Fantastic Four.
The new film from FOX is scheduled for release in 2015, and will reboot the franchise that began with 2005’s Fantastic Four and concluded with 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
At first glance, we have to admit that Kit seems to be at least an interesting, if not downright confusing, choice for the role. For starters, he seems a little young, since he’s just turning 27 this year and Reed Richards is traditionally portrayed as an older gentleman with graying temples. Kit would also have to work on his American accent, and a haircut would most definitely be in order, possibly leaving him to wear a wig on GoT (unless they do an episode where Jon Snow gets a snazzy new ‘do).
However, Kit is a talented actor, and will soon be making a name for himself as an action movie star with his upcoming roles in Seventh Son and Pompeii, so maybe he’ll make a good Mr. Fantastic after all, if given the chance. Whatever the case, let’s hope the cast for the 2015 iteration of the Fantastic Four franchise has a more lasting effect than the 2005 version — we don’t want another origin story in 2025.
