Glee Ratings Smash! Cory Monteith Tribute: The Most Popular Episode Ever?

We already knew that Glee knocked its ratings out of the park for October 10’s Season 5, Episode 3: "The Quarterback.” The Cory Monteith (Finn) tribute was the most-watched episode so far this season, beating the previous week’s episode by more than 75 percent.

However, that doesn’t mean it was the most-watched Glee episode of all time. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that “The Quarterback” gave Glee its highest ratings since 2012. So which previous episode managed to get more viewers than the Cory Monteith tribute?

That answer depends on which age of Glee viewers you’re talking about. For advertisers, the most coveted demographic is viewers 18-49. In that key demo, the Cory Monteith tribute providedGlee’s best ratings since September 20, 2012: the show’s second Britney Spears tribute, Season 4 Episode 2: “Britney 2.0.” (That’s right. Who triumphs in the ratings? It’s Britney, b—h.)

For the slightly younger 18-34 demo, however, it was Glee’s highest ratings since September 13 — aka Season 4’s premiere: “The New Rachel.” Back in February 2012, Season 3, Episode 14: “On My Way” attracted similar numbers with its huge cliffhanger involving Quinn’s (Dianna Agron) potential death in a car crash.

Are you surprised at Glee’s ratings breakdown, or does it all sound about on par with what you’d expect? Head below and sound off to let us know what you think.
