Dancing With the Stars Season 17 Week 5: Best and Worst Performances
It was Most Memorable Year week on Dancing With the StarsSeason 17, Week 5, and the stars pulled out all the stops to win our hearts with their saddest (or in some cases most adorable) stories. But a good sob story doesn't guarantee a great dance. Who took this week's challenge and ran with it, and whose story was better than their performance?
At this point, there's not a truly bad contestant left, so we've made some picks that are bound to piss certain fans off. Read on for our picks for best and worst of the week, and then share your own thoughts in the comments below!
Best:Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Sasha Farber, Jazz
Major kudos to new pro Sasha Farber. He clearly knows how play to Nicole's strengths, and this dance is a perfect example. Fun, fast, and hot, hot, hot! It was easily the highlight of the night.
Honorable Mention: Corbin Bleu and Karina Smirnoff, Foxtrot
Is it unfair that a star with such an intense dance background is competing against people who've never done a single plié? Maybe, but if it means we get to see stellar performances like this every week, we don't mind.
Worst: Leah Remini and Tony Dovolani, Contemporary
We love Leah's passion here, but there's no denying that the technique wasn't quite there, especially compared to the competition. Also, as a sidenote, we still find it weird that she never explicitly mentioned her split with Scientology when talking about why this is her most memorable year. Viewers who don't know her backstory must have been so confused.
Dishonorable Mention: Amber Riley and Derek Hough, Foxtrot
Don't kill us, Amber and Derek fans! We thought Amber sold the heck out of this performance, but in the end we have to side with Len: there wasn't enough Foxtrot in this Foxtrot. And, unlike other times Derek has clashed with Mr. Grumpypants, we didn't think the choreography was cool enough to justify ignoring the actual point of the dance.
