Dancing With the Stars Replacing Judge Len Goodman With Someone Younger — Report

Dancing With the Stars has gone through a lot of changes in the past year — including the loss of the Results Show — so it only makes sense for them to continue to try to find ways to build ratings.

However, we didn’t expect the next big change to be replacing someone. According to an unnamed “insider” who spoke to the National Enquirer, 69-year-old DWTS head judge Len Goodman may be replaced with someone younger — perhaps even Julianne Hough! She recently sat in for Len as a guest judge on Season 17, but this was just a one-week stint, not a season commitment. While fans seemed to see her as a breath of fresh air — except for maybe Christina Milian and Mark Ballas — could the original judge really be replaced?

The Enquirer’s source says producers may be looking to permanently replace Len with “someone fresh” like Julianne. “But since she’s chasing a big movie career, the network execs are keeping their options open,” the source said. “Their goal is to find an entertainment personality between the ages of 21 and 40 who has great chemistry with the other judges.”

Julianne probably wouldn’t want to sign on to judge DWTS permanently, but they could continue to swap out pros as guest judges. Maksim Chmerkovskiy has been vocal about wanting to join the show, even though he and judge Carrie Ann Inaba have sparred in the past. (Hey, that might make for good TV!)

Maks recently reiterated his position on the matter, telling TODAY, “My participation with Dancing With the Stars is up to higher powers. When there’s a phone call, ‘Hey, we want you to be a judge,’ it will be welcomed with positivity and smiles.” Make the call, Powers That Be!

Do you think DWTS should replace Len at some point, with a permanent judge or several guest judges? If so, should the new judge be a DWTS pro, or someone not connected to the show so there’s not even a hint of bias? Sound off below!
