The Walking Dead Season 4: Why Are They Filming in a Cemetery? Who Dies?

At this point, filming for The Walking Dead Season 4 seems to have reached the back half, meaning Episodes 9-16, which we’ll start seeing in February 2014.

They actually wrapped the mid-season finale (Episode 8) back in August, and David Morrissey (The Governor) mentioned it takes about eight days to shoot an episode. There are probably a ton of other factors involved, but it gives us a rough idea of where they might be production-wise by the end of October.

TWD shoots in Georgia, and the local paper in Grantville, Georgia recently had a story about Stalwart Film Studio shooting scenes for Season 4 in Grantville toward the end of October and first of November. The filming will take place at Grantville City Cemetery, and a home in the town.

The film studio agreed that the filming would include “nothing disrespectful, no violence, no walker/zombies, no names of our deceased to show in film, no filming on weekend and everything as good or better when they leave.” The scene in question will reportedly include “members of the cast walking out of the woods and through the cemetery to a fake headstone placed there by the studio. The cast then sees what they are looking for and leaves.”

Which cast members? What were they looking for? Who died?! These are things we do not know, but we can tuck the idea into the backs of our minds in case it makes more sense later.

The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
