Dancing With The Stars

Leah Remini’s Scientology Deposition Postponed: Lawyers Don’t Want Her to Testify

Leah Remini joined Dancing With the Stars Season 17 on the heels of a very public split with the Church of Scientology. For Week 5’s Most Memorable Year theme, Leah danced about breaking free from a puppet master, and even though she never mentioned Scientology by name, it was generally viewed as a dance about her time in the church.

Leah and Tony Dovolani are now working on their Week 7 routines, but she was supposed to give a deposition about her time in the church on October 15. According to RadarOnline, her deposition — which was expected to be “explosive” — has been postponed. “It was delayed by agreement to take her deposition at a later date,” attorney Marc Wiegand, counsel for the plaintiff, told Radar.

Leah agreed to testify in a harassment lawsuit filed against the church and its leader, David Miscavige. The lawsuit was filed by Monique Rathbun, wife of senior former church executive Marty Rathbun. Marc said church lawyers “don’t particularly want [Leah’s] deposition taken,” since she could share potentially damaging information. “But we’re entitled to discovery on matters that are relevant, and this is a relevant matter,” he added.

No later deposition date has been set.

In the meantime, Leah and Tony have two dances this Monday, October 28 — an individual routine and a team dance. Are you rooting for Leah to continue to “Roar” ‘til the end? Sound off below!
