Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey Season 4’s February 2 Episode: Did Lady Edith Get Dumped Again?

In classic Downton Abbey style, the drama is beginning to pick up as we draw closer and closer to the February 23 finale of Season 4.

The January 26 episode went a long way to answering some of our more pressing questions including how things stand between Mr. Bates (Brendan Coyle) and Anna (Joanne Froggatt). Of course, however, there are still plenty more twists ahead judging from a preview of the February 2 episode.

Let’s begin at the end with a wide-eyed Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael). She’s received surprising news in the evening post, likely related to that visit she paid to a London doctor in the last episode. Did Edith’s night of passion with Michael “Disappearing Act” Gregson (Charles Edwards) lead to unexpected consequences? We can tell you for sure but only if you don’t mind being spoiled.

Also in the promo: Anna and Bates ditch their uniforms for fancy clothes but look tense despite a nice evening out. “I was a fool to think we could leave it behind,” Anna says before Cora (Elizabeth McGovern) interrupts. First question: Where exactly are Anna and Bates? Second question: Is Bates making good on his vow to find the man who attacked his wife? (Once again, we’ve got the answers, if you want them.)

We also get a glimpse of Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) chatting up old visitor the Abbey, Evelyn Napier (Brendan Patricks). Like his last visit, Evey’s brought along a guest, Charles Blake (Julian Ovenden). Believe it or not, he’ll actually make for one of Mary’s love interests of the season despite their chilly beginning.

What do you hope to see in the February 2 episode? More Lady Edith or Lady Mary meeting a new bloke? Sound off in the comments below.
