The Walking Dead Season 4: Is Episode 3, “Isolation,” the Best So Far? Carol and Tyreese Shine

Tonight (October 27), AMC airs The Walking Dead Season 4 Episode 3, "Isolation," which was written by none other than comic book writer/executive producer Robert Kirkman.

A while back, we heard it might be the "best" episode for Tyreese (Chad Coleman), who'll enter the week in rage-filled mourning for his burned lady love, Karen.

Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) also teased that Episode 3 is "an extraordinary episode for so many reasons."

Credit: Gene Page/AMC got to see the episode in advance and they declared it "the best written episode of Season 4 so far”: "Everything logically builds to the shocking ending that you always know is coming on Walking Dead, but still can’t help feeling caught a little off guard by."

They say two cast members shine especially bright this week — Chad Coleman as Tyrese and Melissa McBride as Carol. "We finally get to see the Tyreese that fans have been waiting for. We finally see the caliber of acting that Coleman is able to deliver on the show. Tyreese finally becomes a character we’re actually interested in seeing what happens next with. [...] [I]n season 4, Carol has been emerging as a more active player. That trend continues this week. With 'Isolation,' McBride delivers her best performance on the series to date."

They also tease a scene that's "sure to thrill" comic fans, which may be a hint to Tyreese hammering down the walkers outside the car during the supply trip, as shown in the Comic-Con trailer. That could be a reference to his gymnasium walker thrashing from the books.

They basically gave "Isolation" a rave review, saying it has Emmys written all over it. If you're seeing this after the episode airs, do you agree that it's the best episode of the season so far?
