The Walking Dead’s Melissa McBride Says Carol Feels Remorseful After Committing Murder, Weighs in on Daryl’s Thoughts!

The Walking Dead’s Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) killed David and Karen for the betterment of the group. She knew they were very sick with this flu and likely murdered them so the illness wouldn’t spread to the rest of the prison population — but it doesn't mean that Carol feels okay about her decision.

When Tyreese (Chad Coleman) asked Carol to keep an eye on his sick sister Sasha (Sonequa Martin-Green) while he was away, she showed a hint of remorse by violently knocking over the water barrel and crying once he was out of sight. Despite Carol being clearly distraught, many felt that once soft spoken Carol was still too cavalier about the killings.

In an interview with Access Hollywood, Melissa says her on-screen counterpart did what was necessary, but does feel guilty about it.

“She’s pretty steadfast in what she has done and she knows that,” Melissa said of the double-murder. And though Melissa doesn’t think anyone will get violent with Carol when they learn about that she’s done, the consequences will be severe. “She’s not combative, like Tyreese, [who] I think took the first swing in that [the fight with Rick] and I don’t think that’s gonna happen. But there is going to be fallout and consequences. It’s going to be very interesting and I cannot wait for people to see what’s coming after this.”

As for Daryl — or should we say “Pookie” — Melissa admits that his reaction could go either way. “I don’t know. That’s something we’re gonna have to wait and find out. … Would be down with it?”

But this is also where Melissa thinks Carol’s remorse creeps in. “Still, it’s a hard thing to accept what she’s done, by even she herself. I’m sure, certain [she] feels remorseful about what had, in her mind, had to be done.”

Do you think Carol is truly remorseful about killing Karen and David, or is she taking a page out of Carl Grimes’ playbook? Vote below!

The Walking Dead Season 4 airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
