The Walking Dead’s Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha) and Chad Coleman (Tyreese) play a brother and sister on the hit AMC show, but what’s the duo’s relationship like off camera? According to Sasha, they get along just like siblings. What a coincidence!
The actress tells AMC’s blog, “Chad and I have a very cool connection anyways — it was very brother and sister when we first met. We have the same sense of humor, so we clicked with each other from the beginning. We really were just able to build off of that, and not have to inject something else onto it.”
We love Tyreese and Sasha’s dynamic on the show, we just hope they’re both around for a bit longer so we can enjoy it! Unfortunately, it isn’t looking great for either of them right now. Sasha’s really sick with this deadly flu, and Tyreese — who is still broken up over Karen’s brutal death — seems like he’s moments away from a mental breakdown.
But when these sibs bring their A-game, both of them have shown that they are forces to be reckoned with. Tyreese didn’t like killing walkers (at least before Karen’s death and “hammer time” ensued) but Sasha’s always been one to kill zombies and protect herself with some cool weapons.
“It’s cool and fun,” she says of the walker kills. “I have stage combat training from college, which is drastically different than fighting for the screen, but I do enjoy that kind of stuff. I love coming to set to find out what weapon I have today. My favorite has got to be the M-5 I have in the first episode — that’s Sasha’s baby right there. I would put the gun in lots of different positions in between takes and name it something: ‘Baby,’ ‘Boombox.’ We’d have fun with it.”
There’s no question that Sasha knows how to work that gun! Do you think she’ll beat this flu so she can use it again, or is this likely the end of the road for her. Share your thoughts and theories below!
The Walking Dead airs Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
