Kristen Bell on Pregnancy: I Didn’t Bond With Baby Lincoln Until After Birth
First of all, we need to start by acknowledging that Kristen Bell is the most perfect, adorable, goofy, and otherwise all-around flawless human being on the planet. Marshmallows. Sloths. Everything. We adore her.
And her little daughter, Lincoln, now a full seven months old? We’re in love. Is it weird to be in love with other people’s children? Probably. Oh well.
Kristen has been referring to Lincoln's father, Dax Shepard, as her husband for years even though the couple only technically got hitched mid-October. More recently, Kristen told Us Weekly about a particular conversation she had with Dax back when little Lincoln was just a bun in the oven.
"I kept saying to Dax in all sincerity during my pregnancy, 'I just don't know how I'm going to like her as much as I like the dogs.' I was being serious," Bell tells Flare magazine, via Us Weekly. "Because I f—king love my dogs; they are my children."
Some mothers say they feel a deep connection with their children even from the womb. But it didn’t quite happen that way for Kristen. "I love people the more I know them, and I didn't know her. It could've been a water bottle in my belly, that's about how connected I felt to her during my pregnancy," she says.
"But within about 24 hours after she came out, my hormones reset, and they reprogrammed my feelings about her," Kristen adds. Now mother and daughter sound closer than close; they just needed some quality face-to-face time to get there.
