The Originals Season 1, Episode 6 Spoilers Roundup — Is Klaus’s Hybrid Baby Doomed?
Tonight, we get an all new episode of The Originals! What can we expect from Season 1, Episode 6 (“Fruit of the Poisoned Tree”)? We’ve gathered up all of the spoilers we have for tonight’s installment of the spin-off for your perusing pleasure.
The witches are going after Sophie (to get to the miracle baby)
In last week’s episode, we learned that the witches are willing to go to bloody lengths to ensure the outcome they want. In tonight’s episode, their target is Hayley and Klaus’ baby, and they’re getting at her through Sophie, who is still magically linked to Hayley. In the promo for the ep, we see a witch telling Soph, “That baby will bring death to us all” before totally attacking her and injecting something into her neck. “It will kill a child in utero,” the voiceover tells us. Yikes!
Their witchy plan seems to be working
Later in the promo, we see a distraught Hayley saying she can’t breath. She is in Elijah’s arms (aww!), and they are standing in some sort of pool of water, presumably to counteract the effects of whatever the witches are doing to Sophie. “We just need time,” Elijah tells her. Though Elijah’s steady wisdom usually has some persuasion power, Hayley looks unconvinced.
The synopsis for the episode tells us that, “When Klaus discovers Hayley’s life is being threatened, he goes to extreme lengths to protect her and their unborn baby,” and judging from the shot of Klaus screaming “I don’t have time!” in Father Kieran’s face, we’d say that is an accurate description. What will Klaus do to protect Hayley and his child? And is he finally admitting that he cares about Baby Mikaelson?
Cami and Father Kieran hang out
In other news, Camis is “having a difficult time dealing with the tragic events of her past,” and decides to go to Father Kieran, aka her uncle, for help. Last week, we learned that the witches seem to be behind the “mental illness” that seemingly caused Cami’s twin brother to snap and kill his fellow seminary students. Will we find out more about that mystery tonight? And will Cami be there when “Klaus delivers some surprising news to Father Kieran”? Possibly, he clues the priest in to the existence of the miracle baby?
Marcel goes rogue
OK, maybe not rogue, but he does seem to be doing his own thing in tonight’s ep (probably because he is still unaware of the miracle baby’s existence). According to the synopsis, “Feeling as though he can trust no one, Marcel visits an old friend to seek out some advice.” Who is this old friend? Could it be someone we already know, or is The Originals introducing a new recurring character?
We’ve always had a soft spot for Rebekah, the Original vamp who wants to be human, but she’s been even cooler in The Originals. She continues her streak of snarky nonchalance in this sneak peek for tonight’s episode, brushing off Marcel’s questions about her romantic feelings for him with a “Maybe once. Not anymore.” We’re not sure if we believe her, but we like that she’s not letting Marcel manipulate her. Is this the Marcel/Rebekah moment executive producer Michael Narducci was tweeting about looking forward to, or is there another to come in this episode?
Elijah holds up his end of the bargain
We’re still not exactly sure what the details are of the deal Elijah made with witch Davina, but we do know he promised to help her learn how to control her powers by giving her access to his mother’s grimoires. In this sneak peek, we see Elijah tearing out some pages from the ancient spell book in front of siblings Klaus and Rebekah. According to the former, “In [Elijah’s] presence, all problems turn to pixie dust and float away.” We’re not sure if that’s true, but Elijah does seem to have everything under control, and the synopsis tells us that “Davina takes steps to learn how to control her magic” in tonight’s episode.
