In the most recent episode of The Vampire Diaries (Season 5, Episode 5: “Monster’s Ball”), we met Aaron (Shaun Sipos), a mysterious Whitmore student who seems to be under Dr. Wes Maxfield’s guardianship after his parents were tragically killed.
We have yet to find out how Aaron’s parents died, but we’re guessing it has something to do with the supernatural. Were Aaron’s parents killed by vampires? Or were his parents part of the same secret society Dr. Wes, and presumably Elena’s father, were in? Could Dr. Wes be experimenting with vamps because they killed his friends? Perhaps Elena and Aaron are more alike than we originally thought.
If so, does that mean Aaron knows about vampires? His guardian is currently experimenting with vampires, so it seems plausible that Aaron might now more than he’s letting on. However, given his conversation with Elena at the Historical Ball — in which Aaron tells Elena that he feels “cursed” because everyone he’s close with dies — we’re on the fense.
While we’d love to believe that Aaron knows more about vampires than he cares to admit to Elena, we just don’t think he knows about supernaturals just yet. If he did, wouldn’t he be a little less aimless and a little more hellbent on figuring out what’s going on? We’re not sure what Aaron’s motives are, but we’re not exactly thrilled he’s getting close to Elena.
What do you think, TVD fans? Does Aaron know about vampires or is he in the dark? Sound off in the comments!
