Glee’s Rachel Gets a “Finn” Tattoo — So Similar to Lea Michele and Cory Monteith!
When Lea Michele (Rachel) lost her boyfriend Cory Monteith (Finn) this summer, one of the ways she chose to help remember him was to get a tattoo in his memory. The tiny tatt is written in black ink, and it’s on her on the upper part of her right ribcage. It contains four words: “If you say so” — the last thing Cory ever said to her.

Lea’s Glee character, Rachel, also just lost the love of her life. In this week’s Season 5 Episode 5: “The End of Twerk,” Rachel chose to remember Finn in much the same way that Lea chose to remember Cory.
At the end of the episode, we saw that Rachel had gotten a small tattoo of her own. Also in black ink. In that same place on her ribcage where Lea had gotten hers.
But Rachel’s tattoo is in a simple cursive script, and it reads simply, “Finn.” But this tribute to her lost love is not something Rachel wants to share with the rest of the world. In fact, she didn’t even show it to her best friend, Kurt.
“I didn’t go through with it,” she tells him. Kurt is livid. “I cannot believe you backed out without telling me!” He, after all, got both a tattoo and a tongue piercing. Everyone deals with grief and loss differently. Who are we to criticize his way?
Did you pick up on the parallels between Lea and Rachel’s tattoo decisions? And are you glad Glee is keeping this so close to real life, or do you think it’s an uncomfortable line to walk? Head below and share your thoughts.
