We all remember the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones Season 3 (though we wish we could forget), and now it looks like we have another color-themed set of nuptials to look forward to in Season 4: the Purple Wedding, AKA Joffrey's wedding to Margaery Tyrell. And now we have some new details about the highly anticipated event.

According to the on set production diary of Game of Thrones writer Cat Taylor, Joffrey and Margaery's wedding was filmed in Belfast, Northern Ireland, on the Great Sept of Baelor. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because it's the same place where Ned Stark lost his head. We’re just glad that Sansa isn’t the one who has to marry Joff! The reception, however, was filmed in Dubrovnik, Croatia. We’ve heard of destination weddings, but a destination reception is a whole new ballgame. Must be nice to be royal.
The wedding sounds like it’s going to be epic, with at least 23 characters popping up at the celebration, as well as 218 extras. The reception will reportedly feature “elaborate decorations, an epic feast, and the most creative and unexpected forms of entertainment for the guests.” Among the guest stars confirmed is contortionist Pixie Le Knot, whom you may remember as the most flexible of the prostitutes hired by Tyrion for his squire, Podrick Payne. Might Pixie be part of the aforementioned creative and unexpected forms of entertainment?
This Purple Wedding sounds like it’s going to be all kinds of awesome, and with any luck, it will make us forget all about that awful Red Wedding!
