Just hours before a November 19 screening of the Boston’s Finest Season 2 premiere, one of the reality show’s star, Pat Rogers, is said to have taken his own life. After news of Pat’s death broke, the event was abruptly canceled, reports the Boston Herald.
Officer Pat appeared on the first and second seasons of the show, though only briefly in the more recent series. According to his official bio on the Boston’s Finest website, Pat was on the force eight years with a “blue-collar upbringing” in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
A pet project of executive producer Donnie Wahlberg, the unscripted TNT show follows Boston police officers as they deal with the stresses of their job both in the office and at home. “I am so deeply saddened tonight,” Donnie wrote upon hearing the news of Pat’s passing. “My thoughts and prayers go out to a fallen brother of The Boston Police Dept.”
The first episode of Season 2, which is set to air at 9 p.m. Tuesday, November 26, begins in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon bombings, with many of the officers among the first responders to the scene on April 15, 2013.
“Four of our officers were at the house in Watertown when the second [alleged bomber] was captured, so they were a big part of it,” Donnie has previously said of Season 2. As of publishing there is no word if Pat was one of those officers.
Our thoughts go out to Pat’s family, friends, co-workers, and co-stars as they deal with his tragic death.
