The 2013 Soul Train Awards aired this past Sunday, December 1, and reality star Tamar Braxton was the big winner of the night! Tamar nabbed two of her four nominations, taking home Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and the Ashford and Simpson Songwriter’s Award. The singer took the stage for a few heartwarming speeches (as well as an unforgettable performance of her hits) and received tons of praise — even from her rival, K. Michelle.
That’s right! The Love & Hip Hop star — who beat out Tamar for Best New Artist — extended a word of congratulations as well as the olive branch to Tamar via Twitter during the airing of the show.
“I'll try this 1mo time. Congrats @tamarbraxtonher We both been through hell fighting 4 a dream. Let's cut the sh— and inspire,” she tweeted at the “Love and War” singer.
Though Tay-Tay has yet to respond to Kay’s obvious attempt at calling a truce, it was clear at the taping of the show (Friday, November 8) that Tamar took some of K. Michelle’s thoughts on her being “old” into consideration.
During her extremely emotional acceptance speech for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist, Tamar noted that she was “36 years old and proud of it,” adding “And I don’t give a damn if I was 56, she was NOT fitting to stop! Point, blank, and the period.”
We’re proud of both ladies winning big, and hope they can put their feud aside for the future of R&B and soul music!
