True Blood Star Stephen Moyer Sounds Off on Upcoming “Sad” Series Finale and the Fate Of Bill/Sookie
Will True Blood both begin and end with Bill and Sookie?
The show's seventh and final season kicks off in Summer 2014, and Stephen Moyer opened up to TVLine about his thoughts on the show's swan song, and whether or not Bill Compton and Sookie Stackhouse stand a chance as a couple in the end.
"A bunch of people loved Bill and Sookie together, but a whole bunch of people didn’t. So you can’t just please this bunch or that bunch," reflected Stephen, who is married IRL to Anna Paquin, who plays Sookie. "As [series creator] Alan Ball once said, 'I’m not interested in people being happy.' And I’ve always said, as soon as you see one of our couples get together, you know [they're] f—ed."
Speaking of f—ed, things haven't been looking too great for Sookie and Bill for a while in the series. Although Bill's love for her has resurfaced (it's complicated), their history might be too insane. "I don’t know whether they can be [the endgame], given everything that’s happened between them. What Bill did was open up something inside her that she had never had before. He was the key to a new world for her," Stephen explained. "Maybe that’s all he was supposed to be — a window into that world. I don’t think that there is a right or wrong answer."
