Grammy Award-winning R&B songstress Toni Braxton is no stranger to the acting world. As a matter of fact, the Maryland native hopes to spread her acting chops on the hit Netflix series, Orange Is the New Black, but she has one request: that she plays a lesbian.
No, we’re not making that up.
Toni recently sat down with The Grio to speak about her love of the show and said that she “hopes” to make it onto the cast who has a thing for ladies.
“I’m hoping to be on Orange Is the New Black,” Braxton said. “That’s my favorite show. I’m hoping… we’ll see. I told you I wanted to be a lesbian… I still want that,” she confessed.
Back in February while doing press for her Lifetime movie Twist of Faith, the 46-year-old mom of two admitted that she’d like to play a lesbian on TV or film.
“I would like to play a lesbian,” she said. “I don’t know why. And do a whole make-out scene and the whole thing; just something completely different than people would expect from me. Not a lipstick lesbian, either,” she confessed.
In 2001’s Kingdom Come, Toni, who worked alongside the likes of Jada Pinkett-Smith, Whoopi Goldberg, and L.L. Cool J., played the rich wife of philandering husband. In a Twist of Faith, she played a single mom who sang in a choir.
Looks like Toni’s on the move for a more challenging role and quite frankly, we’d love to see her in the Litchfield Correctional Facility!
