It's been a little over a week since Amber Riley won the Mirror Ball trophy on Dancing With the Stars Season 17, and she’s just now getting used to the idea.
In her finale Parade blog of the season, Amber admitted she didn't think she'd make it to the end, never mind win. She thanked fans for their encouragement with her knee injury and their votes to win. "It turns out I’m the first African American female dancer to win Dancing With the Stars, and it’s really cool to break a record, to be somebody to do something for the first time." Trailblazer!
She said she's going to keep dancing, since it's a part of her life now, although she'll give her knees a rest for a while. She said she'll also definitely keep in touch with her champion pro partner, Derek Hough. "He’s not getting rid of me anytime soon! He tortured me the whole entire season, so now I’m going to torture him with random phone calls and show up to his house and just annoy him! But no, I love Derek."
She said she's currently in the middle of putting together a concert for later this month, and it may be a Christmas concert. "I don’t have the complete details, but that’s what I am working on. Stay tuned!
You can probably “stay tuned” via Twitter, where she shares regular updates. On December 2, she had a doctor's appointment, and shared the results in an Instagram photo. Ouch! And just yesterday, on December 4, she shared this Instagram video, adding, "Writing for a very special artist. Stackin vocals last night. I really love music, I don't know what I would do without it." She has such a great voice...
So the Glee star is keeping busy with music, health and holiday stuff — when she's not trying to stalk Derek. Good luck with all of it, Amber!
