Can we all agree that Angela “Big Ang” Raiola is the best part of Mob Wives? The VH1 show, which just premiered its fourth season last week, is filled with outspoken Italian gals, but Ang is the reason we keep tuning in each Thursday. Okay, and we love the catfights. And the accents. But back to Big Ang. If you’re not a regular viewer, you may only know and love her for her raspy voice and tough-as-nails ‘tude. But there’s a lot more to the reality star than meets the eye.
Here are five things that you probably didn’t know about Big Ang:
1. She’s not actually a mob wife.
Unlike the rest of the wives, Ang has never actually been married to a mobster. However, the Staten Island does have family ties to the lifestyle: She’s the niece of Salvatore "Sally Dogs" Lombardi, a now-deceased captain of the Genovese crime family. The reality star has also dated her fair share of crime-connected men, or “wise guys,” as she so affectionately calls them, but her husband works in sanitation.
2. She’s an out-and-proud cougar.
Ang reunited with estranged hubby, Neil, who is 14 years to her junior! In a 2012 interview, the sassy lady boasted her cougar status: “I think that when men look at me, they notice my height and my boobs. I am married to a 38-year-old, and I am 52, and he is 6-foot-7.” Well, we think Neil is the lucky one!
3. She has double J-sized breasts!
Who even knew bras could go that large, right? Among her many procedures — a tummy tuck, lip injections, liposuction — Big Ang’s prominent chest is her most notable and her oldest! She first had implants put in in 1985, and had them replaced 10 years later in 1995. Her double J breasts are eye-catching, though she balances them out well with her nearly 6-foot frame.
4. Her nickname originates from childhood.
Though many might think that Big Ang owes her nickname to her full lips and breasts or her tall stature, she actually earned the epithet as a kid because of her larger-than-life personality. It’s that love for having a good time that wins us over to this day!
5. She’s a strong supporter of the LGBT community.
Last year, Big Ang appeared in her friend’s Off-Broadway play, My Big Gay Italian Wedding. “I am a huge supporter of the gay community, and to perform a gay wedding will be easy for me,” she said of the experience. She then one-upped herself recently when she helped a fan propose to his longtime boyfriend and threw the couple an engagement party in NYC! What a gal.
