Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) has been in serious need of a bromance partner since Alaric Saltzman (Matt Davis) left town on The Vampire Diaries. Could tortured vamp Enzo (Michael Malarkey) be the man for the job? TVD executive producer Caroline Dries weighs in to TVLine on the strange Damon/Enzo friendship and where it might go.
So, what’s the dealio? Will Enzo forgive Damon for leaving him to burn in Whitmore House all those years ago? Will these two former vamp BFFs be giving one another friendship bracelets for Christmas? Here’s what Caroline had to say!
“Enzo and Damon have a very complicated relationship. He’s holding a grudge [against Damon]. But at the same time, he also admitted he has no friends. [Laughs] He and Damon went through this horrible, trying time together. If you think about the way soldiers bond over trauma, that’s kind of what they went through. So it’s not as simple as saying they’re enemies or they’re friends. They’re a mixture of good and bad.”
So, maybe they’re holding off on the friendship bracelets for now. We’re actually really worried that these two, given that it sounds like Enzo might be an uber bad influence on Damon. (Not that Damon needs a bad influence, considering he’s still a serial killer. Oh brother, show.) But, maybe they’ll bond over their conflicted ways? As we mentioned before, Damon could use a BFF. Someone to hang with who isn’t his brother or his ex-girlfriend’s little brother. And, given that most people in Mystic Falls still remember Damon’s killing sprees, pickings are slim.
Do you think Damon and Enzo should be BFFs? Do you think Enzo will ever be able to forgive Damon? Sound off in the comments below!
