Namedrops and Pop Culture References from Episode 2.4, “Duets”

Name drops abound on Glee. More often than not, a famous person's name is used as an insult to take someone down a peg or two — and that's something that we can completely support! To help you keep it all straight, we've compiled a list of the name drops deemed important enough to make it into the mouths of the Glee characters in Episode 2.4. Did you catch them all?

Will (about Puck): He drove his mom’s Volvo through the front of a convenience store and drove off with the ATM.

Sam: Uh, I’m Sam. Sam... I am. And I don’t like green eggs and ham.

Kurt: No straight boy dyes his hair to look like Linda Evangelista, circa 1993.

Will: And, since you guys all seemed to love our little “Defying Gravity” diva-off, I’m making this a competition.

Kurt: Well, Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor would protest. “Make ‘Em Laugh”?
Sam: Sorry.
Kurt: Singin’ in the Rain. 1952. Nothin’? Okay, maybe you are straight.

Brittany (to Santana): We should sing Melissa Etheridge’s “Come to My Window.”

Sam (about Kurt): He emailed me, like, 60 mp3s of him singing, and I thought it was Faith Hill.

Quinn: I looked like a creature out of Avatar down there when I got slusheed.

Sam (to Quinn): [Says something in Na’vi] It means you have pretty eyes. It’s Na’vi, the Avatar language.

Kurt: Don’t worry — I’m not gonna go all Shawshank on you.

Finn: You remember we saw Grease, and it as good, and then we saw Grease 2, and I fell asleep.

Kurt: I will be doing a number from the seminal classic movie, Victor/Victoria.

Artie: I thought I was over somebody, but I still think I have feelings for them.
Brittany: The Clintons?

Brittany: I was gonna order us one really, really long piece of spaghetti, like in Lady and the Tramp. I’ve been practicing nudging the meatball across the table, with my nose.

Sam: Come on, that’s my Matthew McConaughey impression. Come on!

Sam: When I found out I was moving here, I wanted to seem cool, you know. Figured if I looked like Swayze in Point Break, people might think I was a surfer or something.
