Watch: Glee Star’s Sesame Street Anti-Bullying Video — With Elmo and a Chicken!
Chris Colfer (Kurt Hummel) wasn’t always the confident guy we know and love — he spent a lot of his childhood battling bullies who had no idea he’d grow up to be a successful actor, author, and all around awesome dude. He eventually developed tactics that helped him deal with his struggles at school, but before that (and before Glee), life wasn’t so easy.
And now, Chris is reaching out to help kids who might feel the same way… ones who might be a little too young to belong to Glee’s target audience. Recently, Chris stopped by Sesame Street to deliver an important message about bullying with the help of his furry friends, Elmo and a chicken.
It all starts when Elmo and the chicken run to Chris in a panic — someone’s been picking on the chicken, and Elmo needs to find out what he can do to help.
“Whenever you think that someone else is sad or scared, you should always tell a grown-up,” Chris says. “That’s a great way to help.”
Hopefully, the kids who watch Sesame Street will see this and take it to heart. Bullying isn’t cool, people! Besides, you never know if the person you’re making fun of will grow up to be a multi-millionaire who stars on a hit TV show.
