The Originals: Who’s Been Naughty and Who’s Been Nice This Season?
‘Tis the season to reflect on the past year, especially to determine who has been naughty and who has been nice. The Originalsis a show filled with supernatural scheming, backstabbing, and general rudeness. So, let’s make like Santa Claus and morally judge these fictional television characters’ actions! What? It’s the Christmas-y thing to do!
Klaus: You knew he was going to be on this list, right? Even though this character showed some restraint when trying to please Elijah for, you know, that one episode, he’s still a total murderer. He also ordered the (failed) massacre of any werewolves who happen to live in the area, kept the mother-of-his-child as a roomie against her will, and bit his brother. Yeah, no presents for you, Klaus. Better luck next year!
Sophie: Deceit, blackmail and the all-out plotting of a witch’s death are all black marks on this character’s, er, character this holiday season. Not only did she threaten to kill an unborn child to coerce the Mikaelsons into doing her will, but she forget to mention that she also counted sacrificing a teenager as her end goal. Yeah, nope.
Marcel: We have to admit: Marcel was way nicer than we thought he would be starting out this show. Most of the bad deeds he’s done have some pretty weighty rationale behind them. Still, though, killing Sophie’s sister without any questions, bricking his bestie into The Garden, and ditching Rebekah to join Team Klaus were all not cool things to do.
Elijah: Elijah has that morally questionable scene in which he killed Agnes neck, but we are going to overlook it — this time — because Agnes was pretty committed to killing Klaus’ unborn child. We wish Elijah had utilized some other problem-solving techniques, but the “naughty” list is already too full, so he’s lucked out this year. We blame his dazzling manners.
Rebekah: Rebekah may be the only Mikaelson to make the “nice” list on merit alone. Sure, she plotted the downfall of her own brother, but we think she’s being harder on herself about that than she needs to be. Klaus has literally terrorized her for centuries, making sure she didn’t have anyone to love but himself. Frankly, we’re surprised she didn’t snap sooner. Add Rebekah’s friendship with Hayley to her loyalty to Elijah, and we think Rebekah’s had a pretty good year — morally-speaking.
Cami: Poor, Cami. This girl has devoted her life to finding out what happened to her twin brother. (Answer: witch curse to drive him mad.) She’s been a good friend to Davina. Heck, she’s even been somewhat understanding towards Klaus, who has made a sport of erasing her memories. Yeah, maybe Cami should get a few extra presents this year.
Davina: So far, Davina has been pretty nice this year. Sure, she broke some of Klaus’s bones, but he was threatening her violin-playing crush’s life. This may change when one of the Big Bads in town forces Davina to snap, but right now, this teenager isn’t interested in being evil. She just wants to have a normal life. Nothing wrong with that!
