The Walking Dead Season 4 Teaser: Daryl and Beth Run and Hide — Why? (VIDEO)

Finally! After a serious dry spell in terms of new footage for The Walking Dead Season 4’s second half, AMC shared a few teaser scenes during the New Year’s marathon.

One sneak peek (watch it below) shows Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beth Greene (Emily Kinney) running through a field, then ducking for cover. The next cut shows them possibly sleeping, as seen from above.

It looks like they are being chased by something — maybe walkers, or possibly people. Any theories there?

It’s no surprise to see Daryl and Beth together, since they ran out of the prison together during the Episode 8 mid-season finale battle. recently shared some spoiler rumors, including that the final eight episodes may include at least one, if not two, Daryl-centric episodes. It’s possible this clip is from one of them. Episode 9 is meant to be a Carl-centric episode, but it will also at least feature Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), if not others from Team Prison.

Episode 10 is meant to feature four different storylines and "some of the oddest couplings of groups you've seen" on the show. It may also mark the introduction of three new potentially major characters in Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz), Rosita Espinosa (Christian Serratos), and Dr. Eugene Porter (Josh McDermitt).

AMC has yet to release episode titles or synopses for the second half, so it’s hard to know when this Daryl/Beth scene might take place. Episode 10? 11? also hinted toward a major death in the second half — which would only make sense since every season has given us at least one late-in-the-game major death. (CDC deaths, Dale, Shane, Merle, Andrea…) Do you think it could be Beth or Daryl this time?

Watch the Beth/Daryl scene below, and watch other teaser clips over here.

The Walking Dead Season 4 returns with Episode 9 on Sunday, February 9 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
