Ian Somerhalder

Does Vampire Diaries Star Ian Somerhalder Think He’s an Attractive Dude?

There’s no doubt that Ian Somerhalder is a sexy, sexy man — but does the Vampire Diaries actor think he is attractive? Read on to find out what he had to say to China Joy on the subject!

“It will never cease to amaze us: the ability of us to look in the mirror,” Ian responded when asked about his looks. “I just strive to be a balanced human being. Find balance in everything. So, aesthetics? It is what it is.” Ian was adorably awkward about the question, trying to brush off the follow-up question asking what he considered the most attractive part of himself. (“That’s a weird question to ask someone,” he said.)

But Ian is a gentlemanly interviewee, and did answer the question about how he stays in shape: “Again, it’s all about balance — healthy, healthy balance,” Ian said. “I go out to the country a lot. I have a house in the country now. And you can see my fingers are black and stained from dirt, which I love. And, so, I get out in the wilderness, and that’s why it’s so important for us to protect it, so that we can go and find balance in nature.” All about saving the Earth, that one.

Whatever Ian may think about himself, the rest of the world thinks he’s gorgeous — inside and out. He finished eighth on’s “Top 20 Celebs Gone Good,” and was runner-up to Tom Hiddlestone in E! Online’s 2013 Celeb of the Year competition. Quite a year for the TVDer!

What do you think is Ian’s most attractive feature? Sound off in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries returns Thursday, January 23 at 8 p.m. on The CW.
