It was an eventful weekend for Kenya Moore. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star spent the past few days in the hospital after undergoing a surgical procedure. The good news is that the surgery was a success and Kenya is doing well.
TMZ was the first to report that Kenya was going under the knife, as well as the motivation behind her decision. As it turns out, Kenya had some fibroids in her uterus that could make pregnancy more challenging for her. And, since Kenya plans on becoming a mother this year, she wanted the fibroids out ASAP.
"The fibroids are a benign type of tumor that were discovered during an ultrasound," the TMZ source explained, adding, "Doctors say fibroid tumors can cause miscarriages ... they told her surgery would increase her chances of a successful pregnancy."
The next day, Kenya herself confirmed TMZ's story, taking to Instagram to post about her post-op status.
"Thank you for all your well wishes and kind regards. Letting my family and friends know I successfully underwent fibroid surgery as it was reported. Yes, I'm okay. No appetite yet. Excellent female doctors in Atlanta! #proudsisters #closertomydreams #Im not 43 yet!" Kenya updated her fans.
Her last hashtag was in reference to TMZ claiming she was 43, though they seem to have corrected the number to 42 now.
Well wishes for a speedy recovery, Kenya, and we hope your baby dreams for 2014 come true.
