Ryan Seacrest Leaving American Idol? “Not a Chance,” He Says

Ryan Seacrest isn't taking his cushy job for granted. He knows he has it made as the host of American Idol, and he tells Today that there's "not a chance" that he'll leave the show and that he has "never" considered it.

"I'm so used to getting up each year and doing that show. And I love the process of going out and meeting somebody … and, if they've got the talent, seeing them become a star."

In other words, he's not pulling a Dunkleman — by which we're referring to Brian Dunkleman, Ryan's co-host in Season 1 who left the show before the ratings tripled in Season 2.

"I have what many people refer to as 'poor judgment,'" Brian said in a 2011 interview. "I'd like to say I was just young and stupid, but the truth is, I really wasn't that young … I was a comedian and an actor… What I wanted to do with my life is be an actor, and that’s going great."

Brian also said that another reason he left was the constant criticism of the contestants: "The other thing was, I didn't like watching those kids being brought to tears like that. I didn't understand why they had to do it. I didn't get it."

We wouldn't begrudge Ryan if he decided to follow suit, though, considering all the other ventures on which he's embarked since starting Idol: his radio show, his job as managing editor of E! News, his producing duties for the Kardashian shows, and so on.

But we're nonetheless glad he's keeping true to his roots!
