American Idol

Watch Cheerleader Stephanie Petronelli Sing “Paris” in the American Idol 2014 Premiere (VIDEO)

It’s been a long, hard hiatus since Candice Glover was crowned the winner of American Idol Season 12. Thankfully, our favorite music competition returned tonight (January 15), and we met a whole new crop of hopefuls looking to become the country’s next big superstar!

Kicking off the latest tour of the United States, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and new judge Harry Connick Jr. headed for Austin, Texas and Boston, Massachusetts. (Of course, Ryan Seacrest was also there to provide much-needed commentary.)

It’s in Boston where the judges meet Stephanie Petronelli, a Patriots cheerleader who shows up in her (very revealing) uniform. After a few jokes from Harry about her outfit, she surprises the others with a raspy rendition of Grace Potter’s “Paris (Ooh La La).”

“I feel like [you] have more soul than I expected,” says J.Lo. “The voice was surprising, in a good way!”

Of course, Harry (being the hard ass of the group) feels the need to disagree. “I’m worried about your voice. It seems like it’s all coming from [the neck] up. Honestly, I don’t think you’re a good enough singer.”

Will Stephanie make it through to Hollywood? Watch the video to find out!

What do you think of Stephanie’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
