Watch Rachel Rolleri Sing “Stay” in American Idol 2014, San Francisco Auditions (VIDEO)
Despite the lowest ratings ever in American Idol history, our favorite competition show is back and better than ever, having blown us away with its premiere on January 15. The combination of amazing contestant talent and chemistry between the judges made it the best episode we’ve seen in awhile... and we’re only getting started!
Tonight promises to be another great night on the show, as the auditions continue in Austin and move on to San Francisco. Will Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. meet the country’s next big superstar in one of these fair cities? Only time will tell!
It’s in San Francisco where the judges meet 17-year-old Keith Urban superfan, Rachel Rolleri. She jokes about having to wipe the drool off her face, but luckily, it doesn’t affect her singing. She delivers a bluesy rendition of Sugarland’s “Stay,” but also shows off her humor and confidence by flashy the judges a few silly faces during her performance.
“I love your voice,” says J.Lo. “It’s got a little cry in the back of it, too.”
“I agree,” says Harry. “It’s an understated confidence that you have, which is extremely important. It’s very attractive.”
Of course, it’s Keith whose opinion really matters most to Rachel. “You’ve got a beautiful voice,” he says. “It’s very mature. And you play guitar really well too!”
As you can probably imagine, Rachel sails on through to Hollywood!
What do you think of Rachel’s performance? Will she make it to the Top 31? Read our spoilers here!
