Glee Heavyweight’s New Film Gets Picked Up at Sundance — About Killer Kids!

And you thought it was hard to find a babysitter to watch a regular kid. Hollywood has always seemed to find little kids creepy, from troubled Damien in The Omen to the evil toy in Child's Play. And now a new movie will bring us the wrath of killer youngsters thanks to a certain Glee guy.

Glee creator Ian Brennan has typically had a slightly twisted way of looking at the world. Glee was born when his film script — which was much darker than the eventual pilot — found its way to Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, who helped develop the film into a TV series.

Now, Ian — who has appeared as a judge on Glee Project and acted in several episodes of Glee, playing a harried TV director in "Glee, Actually" and Regionals judge Svengoobles in Season 3's "On My Way" — is returning to his film roots. A new comedic horror movie called Cooties, which Ian co-wrote with the writer of the Saw franchise, has just been purchased at Sundance this week by Lionsgate.

The film has a brilliant-in-a-ridiculous-way premise, in which a virus turns elementary students into murderous psychopaths. It features a big cast of familiar faces, including Elijah Wood, The Office's Rainn Wilson, SNL's Nasim Pedrad, 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer, and Newsroom's Alison Pill. But the movie probably needs a big cast, since most of the characters are probably going to suffer death-by-tyke.

We think it's awesome that Glee's creators also manage to branch out into film, despite their busy schedules. Ryan Murphy has directed films, too — including the upcoming HBO movie The Normal Heart — although Ryan's film choices haven't been quite as outlandish as Cooties.

Do you plan to see Cooties? Or will you wait for a trailer first?
