Way to keep a secret, girl! Regina Spektor has been pregnant for a while now, and she’s managed to fly completely under the radar about it.
The 33-year-old indie singer officially announced her pregnancy in a January 23 Facebook post as she explained why she has to skip this year’s Grammy Awards (scheduled for this Sunday, January 26).
“I was so happy to be nominated for my first Grammy! I would have definitely gone to LA for all the fun, in a party dress and with bells on, if I wasn't so super pregnant at the moment. (!!!!!!!!!!),” she wrote. To which we say, “!!!!!!,” indeed.
“Jack and I are very excited to be expecting a brand new human together!!!” she continued, mentioning her husband of three years, singer-songwriter Jack Dishel. “I've been spending most of my time writing songs, dreaming up the new record, cooking soup, eating soup, and being very grateful for the people in my life - family, friends, and you…”
Regina is nominated in the category of Best Song Written for Visual Media for “You’ve Got Time,” the theme song for Orange Is The New Black.
The baby she’s “super-pregnant” with will be her first. Might we suggest a couple of bright orange pacifiers for the new addition?
