Crush our dreams, already! The Walking Dead Season 4, Episode 9 premieres Sunday, February 9 on AMC. It's going to follow the comic books closely, which means a heavy focus on what Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) do after the big prison battle.
Carl helped his injured father hobble away from the prison wreckage and Dad told Son, "Don't look back." They think baby Judith is gone. We were hoping maybe Michonne had the baby, but this new photo from Episode 9 suggests she has two new walker pets with her, but no human child.
(So maybe Tyreese [Chad Coleman] does have Judith? That may be her best bet.)
Everything old is new again in the second half of Season 4. It's meant to have a "bleak" start, reminiscent of Season 1 when everyone was on the road without a safe place to stay. But by the finale, it's supposed to be "more hopeful," reminiscent of Season 3, Episode 1 when Rick's former farm group finally found a stable place in the prison.
When we first met Michonne, on the Season 2 finale, she had just saved Andrea (Laurie Holden) in the woods. The katana queen was a mysterious cloaked figure with two walker pets. This new photo shows she has two more zombies (always male, you notice), using them as camouflage to keep other walkers away. The latest promo suggests Michonne does see some major zombie killing action, as we see her sobbing as she's surrounded by defeated walkers.
In the comics, the post-prison action starts with Michonne still at the prison, putting down the head of the person who was decapitated. On TV, that was Hershel Greene (Scott Wilson). So maybe we'll see that. In the books, she eventually meets up with Rick and Carl, and the new behind-the-scenes sneak peek hints to Michonne possibly tracking them to see where they went. Hopefully she will connect with them, or someone from Team Prison; Michonne has done too much for everyone to be left behind again.
What do you think is next for Michonne? Are you worried about her? Disappointed that this photo suggests she’s all alone (except for her undead buddies)?
Here’s more intel on what we can expect from Episode 9.
