Pretty Little Liars

Pretty Little Liars Season 4, Episode 17 Burning Questions: Is Ezra Really Board Shorts?

We love all of Pretty Little Liars’ constant thrills and surprises, but at the end of every episode, it always seems as though we have more questions than answers — and that was especially true this week.

To that end, we’ve tackled the biggest questions from this week’s episode in order to figure out what’s really going on in Rosewood, and to pick up on any and all clues.

Here are 10 questions from Season 4, Episode 17: “Bite Your Tongue.”

1. So Ezra is Board Shorts because of his beer?

Did we just learn who “Board Shorts” is? It certainly seems that way, given that Ezra enjoys Board Shorts Ale. Then again, Ezra didn’t seem to be too fond of that boysenberry pie. Also, we like the idea of drinks being named after clothing items. We would definitely grab a glass of Skinny Jeans Pinot.

2. Are we getting more clues that Wren is “A”?

Things are not looking good for Wren at the moment. First of all, Ali’s diary mentions the Hart and the Huntsman bar, which is a British pub with the Union Jack flag hanging on the wall. Definitely seems like a place that a Brit like Wren would spend time at, no? And anytime “A” seems to have medical knowledge as when “A” drugs Hanna this week we assume Wren is involved.

3. Why does the dentist’s sign-up sheet say “C. Cavanaugh”?

When “A” shreds the dental sign-in sheet to put in Tippi’s cage, we see that one of the name’s on the list is “C. Cavanaugh.” This of course reminds us of Chris Cavanaugh, who was a student back at Jenna’s school for the blind. But perhaps “C. Cavanaugh” is someone related to Toby? We’re starting to wonder if Toby could have a twin.

4. Who gassed Hanna?

If we were Hanna, we would never go to a dentist again, after the trauma she endured this week. So who gassed her and messed with her beautiful teeth? Wren is a definite possibility, as is Ezra, whom we’ve seen in the gas-mask costume previously. But maybe Officer Holbrook has something to do with it, since he helped push Hanna to visit the dentist?

5. Who does Ezra text about Alison?

We see Ezra text someone with the message, “There’s a setback re: Alison.” So who is he texting? And does this mean he’s working with the “A” team — or that he’s trying to protect Ali?

6. What is Mona up to?

If we were Mike, we’d run in the opposite direction of Mona, since we’re not liking her motives for dating the younger Montgomery sibling. Is she dating him to get near Aria? We certainly think Mona swiped something from Aria’s room or put something in her room when Mona zips up her purse at Mike’s party. And what did she talk to Ezra about in their closed-door chat?

7. Does the Cape May map show where Ali and CeCe were staying?

In the map at the end of the episode, “A” has marked Wilden’s yacht, which means the boat will probably come back into play soon in the series. Also on the bottom of the map is a circle marked as “A & C,” which seems likely to stand for Alison and CeCe. If only someone could figure out CeCe’s current whereabouts.

8. What’s going to happen with Spencer and her new pill-popping habit?

We’ve already seen Emily hittin’ the painkillers previously, and now we seem to have another Liar with a drug habit, as Spencer wants a medicinal study buddy. So we’re wondering what kind of consequences this will have. In the books, Spencer’s pill-popping helps her remember about Ali’s disappearance, so we’ll see if that’s the case here, too.

9. Can we trust Officer Holbrook?

We’re a little worried about Officer Holbrook, given that he planted the dental-records idea in Hanna’s head. Was he involved in Hanna getting drugged at the dentist’s office? Excuse us if we’re not quick to trust Rosewood’s finest. And are he and Hanna going to become an item? It certainly seems that way! Translation: See ya, Travis.

10. Will Spandrew happen?

We’ve been waiting with bated breath for Andrew’s return to PLL — but this was not what we were hoping for. Granted, we love Spencer and Toby together, but it’s kind of a bummer that Spencer has never given the brainy-but-yummy Andrew a shot. We still kind of want to see Spandrew happen at some point.
