The Vampire Diaries

Which Vampire Diaries Character Does Paul Wesley Want to Bring Back From the Dead?

The 100th episode of The Vampire Diaries was filled with cameos from long-dead characters, but — when TVD returns this week — it will be back to business as usual in Mystic Falls. This means no Vicki. No Aunt Jenna. No Alaric. And we’re not the only ones bummed about the continued residency on the Other Side of some of our favorite characters. If Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) could bring any character back from the dead, who would it be?

When asked by one of his Mobio INsider followers which character he would bring back, Paul said: “Alaric ain’t half bad.” Word. Alaric (Matt Davis) is probably our frontrunner for character whose miraculous return we would only roll our eyes at a little bit because we’d be so freaking happy he was back. Seeing him pop up in the Salvatore living room, even if only Jeremy and Bonnie could see him, may have been over favorite part of the 100th episode — and that’s saying something. (OK, fiiine. Our favorite was actually the Klaroline hookup.)

We think it’s interesting that Paul is so into seeing Alaric return. Granted, he was a badass history teacher, but Stefan didn’t get as many scenes with Ric as others on the show. The dynamics we miss most with the demise of Alaric was the bromance between Ric and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and the paternal role he played in Elena and Jeremy’s lives. But, whatever, we’ll talk whomever we can get in the campaign to see Alaric return to his rightful position on our TVD-airing television screens. Thanks in advance, TV gods.

Do you miss Alaric as much as we do? Which deceased character would you like to bring back to the show? Share your choices in the comments below!

The Vampire Diaries airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
