Glee Nabs GLAAD Media Award 2014 Nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series

Glee has done it again! The Fox series earned yet another GLAAD Media Award nomination this week for Outstanding Comedy Series. Way to go, Glee!

The nominations for the awards which honor TV shows, films, and other forms of entertainment for their representation of the LGBT community were announced on January 30. The awards will be handed out in Los Angeles this April and in New York City this May.

For Glee, this is the show's fifth-straight nomination in the TV comedy category. Glee won the award in 2010 and was a co-winner with Modern Family in 2011 but hasn't won since then. Last year's prize went to Ryan Murphy's now-defunct NBC sitcom, The New Normal.

Last year's winner in the Oustanding Drama Series was Smash, which has also since been canceled. That has opened the door in that category for the show that will be Glee's rival in its new Tuesday 8 p.m. timeslot, Pretty Little Liars. PLL was not nominated last year. Glee has fierce competition for the comedy prize this year, facing fellow nominees Orange Is the New Black, Modern Family, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and Please Like Me. Orange is definitely buzzy, but we have our fingers crossed that Glee will get back into the winner's circle, given recent storylines like the Klaine engagement and the introduction of characters like Starchild and Dani. Fingers crossed!

Do you think Glee has a shot at winning the award this year? Or will Orange and Modern Family be too tough to beat?
