It’s hard to believe that it’s been over two months since The Governor (David Morrissey) drove his massive tank through the prison fence and ignited that huge war by slicing off Hershel Greene’s (Scott Wilson) head with Michonne’s (Danai Gurira) katana, but the Season 4 midseason finale of TWD aired all the way back on December 1, 2013. That was last year for god’s sake!
We’re now over a month into 2014 and seriously jonesing for some Daryl Dixon, (Norman Reedus) epic walker kills, and spaghetti Wednesdays on Tuesdays. But can we expect to see a new episode of TWD tonight, February 2?
Unfortunately, the second half of Season 4 isn’t scheduled to kick off just yet. We don’t work for AMC or anything, but we have a feeling the fact that network opted not to air the midseason premiere this Sunday has something to do with a little sports show called the Super Bowl. Darn those Seahawks and Broncos!
But fear not, TWD die-hards! The post-apocalyptic show is scheduled to start the second half of its fourth season with Episode 9, “After”, airing next Sunday, February 9. The synopsis for the midseason opener is as follows: Rick deals with old wounds; prison residents consider if survival will be enough.
Some media outlets have seen “After” already, and have confirmed that the ep is centered around Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his son Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs.) If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the majority Team Prison it looks like you’ll have to wait until later in the season, but Episode 9 does sound intriguing in its own way.
And even though we don’t have a new TWD installment to look forward to tonight, we can still catch the first ever “Zombie Bowl!”
Are you disappointed that TWD isn’t new tonight, or are you glad that you don’t have to choose between walkers and the Super Bowl.
