Originals Star Daniella Pineda Joins NBC Drama Pilot Odyssey as Series Regular

After last night’s emotional episode of The Originals, which left NOLA witch Sophie Deveraux lying dead and bloody in the road, there’s good news for her portrayer, Daniella Pineda. Her fate may have been sealed on the CW supernatural drama thanks to her niece, Monique, but the actress can already say she knows where her next paycheck is coming from.

According to TVLine, Daniella will be joining NBC’s drama pilot Odyssey as a series regular. On the new show, Sophie will be playing Molly, a reporter from Time magazine who becomes the love interest for a leading protester against the G8 summit — played by Jake Robinson, who played Bennet on The Carrie Diaries. We like the sound of them together already!

The show itself focuses on three families whose lives are completely changed when someone from each of the families — a stranded female soldier, a disenchanted attorney, and a disrespected political activist — find themselves drawn together into a mindblowing military conspiracy. Sounds like an intense series to us!

Daniella will also be starring alongside Lost’s Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Pushing Daisies’ Anna Friel, so she’s definitely going to be in good company.

But we know the guys and gals of The Originals will miss having Daniella around, though it’s obvious that they’re extremely happy for her. “@Maniella that was fast, congrats!” Charles Michael Davis (Marcel Gerard) tweeted just after the news of her casting broke.

What do you think about Sophie getting killed off? Will you watch Daniella’s new show? Hit the comments and let us know!
